I got to my car this morning to find some someone had tried to steal my car. I found a 20 lb dumbbell sitting on my passenger seat, a broken pocket knife, a broken screw driver, my inside mirror smashed, pieces of my ignition switch on the floor and my shift lever snapped off!

I guess I'm lucky the idiot was unsuccessful but was still left with some damage to the car, making it undrivable. The ignition lock cylinder needs to be replaced, that I already bought but I cannot figure out how to remove the old one. I got a steering wheel puller but with out being the electrical portion of my factory manual, I'm thoroughly confused.

If anyone could take a look at the pictures below and give me some instruction how to remove it, I would very grateful. I need to get the car out of the place it's parked now.

I think I need to remove the screw in top right, and stick a small screw driver down that hole but I can't grip the cylinder in anyway to pull it out.

I think you need to remove the turn signal switch & top housing on steering column, then there should be a screw that holds ign. cyl. in place than you can use a screw driver to pry it out from the inside

If you have the 1978 chasis-body service manual. Look at section 19 page 30 . Ignition key, lock and switch removal covered there. Not in electrical section.
