Also, different headers may change A/F, so rejetting (try richening assuming more header flow) might be required. Still 0.3-0.4 is a lot.

I see those are the late A-body long tubes, which are really long, like 40" or more primaries. That is likely too long for top end power.

Well I did put the Old Rusty Mopar 6X1's Back on.

I know they are not consecutive Back to back comparsions on the same Day - But I feel there is a Huge Negative affect on the ET and performace with those cliffords on the car.. You can feel it when you are Running the car.

If I had a whole bunch of time to play around on a dyno I woud Give the Cliffords another chance and See If maybe I could use them with the 750 Holley That I could never Get to Be quite as fast as the 750 Carter.

Anyway Back into the Low 12's Where I feel the car should be for 1180-1200 Foot elevation track in Good, But Not great Air.

Here are the Slips to prove it.

Thanks Sixgun,

Admittedly, those were 2 of the slower v8 cars out of the entire Pack that day. :-0 Just so happened I Paired up against them - I usually get passed in the First 60'

THe MPH is Creeping Up Slowly, I really do think they help even a miniscule amount - Just Get your self some time and Some Downspouts and a Can or 2 Of rattle Can Flat Black and make your ordinary Full body car look low and Lean Like a Full Boogie round Tube Chassis Car in no time.

I need to Do some more undercar Belly Pan Areo Treatments when Time allows :-)

Pretty Close.
http://slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... &start=690

I Dont Have that SFI Adapter/Quick Disconnect and I weighed my wheel with the Mount on the scale - .9# on the Youtube ad you posed and 1.6# on My setup.

Not too far off..

At this point I need To get Aluminum Tranny Drums, Rear Discs and Gundrilled axles - I need To Remove Rotating Weight To become More Competive - I still Have a Lot of steel to cut and that's Free :-)

Thanks for the Info.

If you want to try some Hooker Super Comps I have a pair I would loan you.

Mike tested an MP against the Hookers on a dyno, Hookers were worth about 25 ft. lbs of torque.

Dennis,

You are truly a good sportsman and a proponent of Slant 6 Racing and research.

I would love to try them out and that way if I don't Like them I wont have to spend Ca$h on Parts that don't work with my combo.

Hopefully there wont be any fitment / clearance issues.

PM or Email me the details.

Thank you,

Greg

Thanks Demon,

It is a sickness, I think I caught it from Mike Jeffery, Doc, Ron Hamby, Lou, and Seymour,And Mark, They are all carriers of this debilitating disease, virus, what ever you want to call it..

If you don't get treated soon, it will eat up your time, pocketbook and require machine, engine/Trans/Drivetrain building, Critical thinking, Decision making, and fabricating skills. Oh yeah you will learn tons more than in any BS conversation and you will have gobs of fun with your work.

It is Fun; So much So, That many People at my local dragstrip think my slant6 plate on the back of ruster is a joke, and that the car has a 340 :-)

Now for the Good News!

Well after returning home from Mason Dixon this past weekend I decided to begin the engine removal / teardown process as I heard a low rackety noise coming from the crankcase in ruster :-( Thought I destroyed some Rod Bearings ???

After getting the car up on jackstands and Draining coolant, pulling Headers/ Intake I Begin to take the engine / trans apart to get the engine pulled. I thought I have some crazy rod noise..

NOPE - ALL LIES..

Torque converter / flexplate Was loose.

I glopped tons of red loctite on and Tightned them up more this time and Slapped it togther -- (NO NOISE NOW) YAY YAY YAY..

So that's all good.

While at Mason Dixon I bought a Set of Hooker SuperComps to add to my header collection..

I put them on tho try out.

Primary tubes are Bigger than MP 6X1's !

Hooker Tubes (it's OD I know)

A Bit of grinding is Required with a deep pan, but nothing like the Old Clifford Long tubes.

Test n Tune was Rained out Tonite - so Maybe sometime later in the month, But we shall see how these work as compared to the Mopar 6X1's -

Are Slantzilla/Mike Jeffery correct in their accusation that ruster will be faster with these Hookers on? We will see!

Very good news to hear!! And a reminder to others, check your torque converter bolts! This makes the second time I have heard/seen this issue, in the last couple years.

100% on the sickness. Do you still have a dash frame? Learned a lot from the racer crowd. A couple of them didn't wanna tell me the vehicle weight though

Glad you did not find any problems!

I used to run the 6x1 header and it worked pretty good.
