I am considering getting a tranaction manual valve body for my a-904. My 2 choices are #17675($294) & 17156($189). the 17156 doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the 17675 has. I have no intention for competition use, my main reason is probably avoiding the kickdown linkage when I get a super six setup, and the fun in shifting the gears. The 17156 has reverse pattern (PRND123) as the 17650 uses forward pattern. I find it more natural to using the reverse pattern, pulling the lever toward the rear. Am I correct in my reasoning for getting the 17156, beside saving $100?
Also, what happens when you put the lever in the "d" position, nothing or do you get 1st gear? thank in advance. Jerry

One a reverse pattern D is 1, 2 is 2, and 1 is 3rd.

One very important thing to remember is IF you do not have low band apply, you will have no engine braking in low gear. You also have to be careful not to let off and get back on the gas in low. You can roll the sprag and bad things may result.

I was just on the turboaction web site, looking at the various valve bodies, looks like the 17675 has engine braking .

That is for a non low band apply. If you have LBA, you can let off and get back on, and will have engine braking.

I used a TurboAction Cheetah non LBA on the street for many years with no issues. In fact, it's still in a buddy's car and he has never had an issue either.

I didn't like the LBA feature, for downshifting while moving, at closed throttle. Mine would just about put you through the windshield. When I came up to a red light, I would leave it in second, untll reaching a full stop.

emsvitil; I have a better understanding of the low band applied, to be on the safe side, I'll order a manual valve body with lba, even though I wont do any racing.

Charlie_S; I think thats how I would drive mostly, come to a stop in 2nd, then downshift to 1st for take off.
