I received the specs on the cam from Mr. Grundy:

"I found a sheet that summarized the components in the engine. I will attach it.

The camshaft that I designed had the following:

* intake opening 32 deg before TDC
* intake closing 84 deg after BDC
for a total duration of 296 deg

* exhaust opening 80 deg before BDC
* exhaust closing 36 deg after TDC
for a total duration of 296 deg

* valve lift of .440"

That add hangs in my toolbox. I cant believe it surfaced after all these years.

I'm impressed to see this and reference using it to gain momentum on doing OHC hemi. I'll dig through but I'm pretty sure there is a picture of an old hemi that was set up OHC too but never took off. Two one of a kind OHC engines, and the slant is the one found Sweet!

Edit: found in Aug 2013 car craft. It was chryslers A-925 dual overhead cam engine R&D. So not exactly what my memory had thought.

I am wondering why you would want to do an OHC thing with a 392 when it was long obsolete by then?

Even the Gen 2 Hemi was phased out by '71.

Here is a pic of the drive pulley attached to the crankshaft.




Oil is supplied from the rear cam bracket. Here is the oil hole in the head at the rear cam bracket location.




This is the rear cam bracket with oil supply to the rocker arm shaft.


This shows an oil supply hole in a cam bracket that provides oil to the Torrington cam bearing in the bracket.



The rocker arms obtain oil from the small holes and the cam bearings obtain oil from the large holes. Three of the large holes have inserts to enable locking pins to engage to properly locate the rocker shaft in the cam brackets.



This shows the oil supply hole in each rocker arm.



This shows the oil supply hole at the top of the valve lash adjuster.

My musings- correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like the factory style valvetrain oiling was retained with the factory rocker arm shaft being used.

and if prototyping this particular set up for potential use on a V engine,, it would be more applicable to a wedge head that had the valves in line,,, as opposed to the hemi valves that are spaced apart and angled....
but with time and money,, anything is possible.

Speaking of money, what is the asking price for the engine?

Speaking of money,,,, the owner and I exchanged a few pm's, he said he will put it on e bay which due to the uniqueness of the parts is the right thing to do. Just a factory original hyper PAC intake and exhaust manifold set will have a value comparable to a dream vacation in the Bahamas. If the lifters are actually ford sohc 427 parts, bet there is someone looking for those. The complete ohc setup could have value just due to the wow factor. I say,,,let it rock!

The problem is the very limited appeal of this motor. While I and other hard-core slant junkies drool over this, honestly, how many hard-core slant six junkies are there? The OHC was never a factory option, so Mopar parts and ephemera collectors won't be interested. The hyperpak stuff will bring some interest, but I think the rest of the motor has a very small pool of interested buyers. Of course, maybe the person that bought the XNR will crawl out of the woodwork and buy this equally rare piece of slant six history.

We need a slant six museum.........
