When using a TDC tool, I first rotated clockwise till #1 stopped, made a mark at TDC on the harmonic balancer, then rotated counter clockwise and made another mark. Is TDC on the real estate between the marks that I didn't span during the rotation, i.e. the portion of the harmonic balancer that didn't pass under the timing marks, or the real esate that did pass under the timing marks. If the former, then I must have good luck because midway between the marks is exactly on the timing mark groove on the harmonic balancer....

TDC is at the center of the shorter span between the two marks.

OK, yes, the shorter span's midpoint is exactly on the timing mark on the harmonic balancer...
