I just bought the HVH quick fuel 1&2 inch phoenlic spacer for the 4150 square bore carb.

Rick, I know they cost a bit, but it's cheaper than lighter wheels or redoing the engine or trans now.

if I can pick up .2 seconds for $127 then I feel it's worth it.

Here's my question does the contoured section of the four holes point up toward the bottom of the carb or down toward the engine?

no manuals or instructions came with the spacers.

Thanks! Greg

For sure!

Can someone explain what the carb spacer is doing? I understand there is more volume under the carb but how does it make more horsepower? Is it allowing a more gradual turn and thus more flow or just what is it doing? Help my pee brain!!

Rick

Greg 1'' may not be enough for a stout engine,So a 2''or more may show some gain.Or maybe your combination is "just right" the way it is,,,And don't need any more "ram" effect. But as they say"You'll never know if you don't try".

Okay, CNC dude, So which side up towards the base of the carb Smooth radius side or the 90* edge side?

If you leave me hangin' I might just have to try it both ways and see if ones better...

I radius mine on both sides. You wouldn't believe me if I told you how much CFM gain there is in doing it.

You don't want a step in the direction of the airflow.

If you do have a small step, smaller to larger is OK.

Avoid larger to smaller steps.

Oh ok, I think the HVH style are designed for the cavity portion to point downward and the 90° sharp edge of the throttle bore to fit against the carb base.
