I'm installing a Devils Own Alcohol/water injection kit. It utilizes a GM MAF/map sensor. This sensor needs 5 volts. How can I get 5 volts?

Google 5v voltage regulator and it will give you schematics. This was brought up a week or so ago when I talked of using a map to judge if a cold air scoop would help on VE. It's about 3-4 cheap radio shack pcs and easy to solder. Let us know how it works out.

I looked at the schematics, boy.. I will make the circuit board as a last resort.

But it will look terrible, my engine compartment wiring already looks like a telephone switch board from the 1950's put together by monkeys.

I was hoping for some sort of module.

If I do make this thing, are there housings and or ways to make it look clean and protect it from the hazards of my engine bay?

Sounds like it might be a trip to Fries tomorrow.

To get 5 volts for sensor I would use USB mobile phone / iPad charger as a donor for the regulator electronics. The board inside is less than half od square inch and easy to capsule with scrincable insulation tube etc.

Instead of taking it apart to get to the board, just cut off one end of the USB cable to get to the power wires.

The USB thing isn't a bad idea either.

If you needed protection in the engine bay, radio shack sell small "project boxes" that can be sealed.

No need for a bread board, it's 4 pcs total if built. It like the USB would take up very little room. You may have a phone charger laying around which would be quicker.

Thanks for the options, I will look for an old car charger and If not it sounds like a trip to Radio Shack.
