When I first got my Dutra Duals, I pieced together a makeshift header with various pieces of SS tubing I had, and my rudimentary welding skills...

Later, I had the help of a friend who is a great welder, and makes nice clean Tig welds. After a few iterations on the original design, my header was complete...but I since I had pieced it together with various different tubing pieces over time, it was multi-colored and needed something...ceramic coating!!

I picked it up today from the coater...check it out.

Nice work! I would probably call this a "head pipe" instead of a header.

Yes, you're right. I call it a down pipe, but my buddy called it a header.

It's not perfect by any means, but I didn't like the patchwork look of the different sections; they colored differently with heat. I used mixed SS pieces I had (some magnetic, some not), but the welds have held for the last few years, so I think it'll hold up. The coating vendor that I used still does the inside as well, so the pipes should last a long time.

That looks pretty nice! It's kind of what I wanted to achieve with my dual Dutra duals, but the output of the rear manifold had very little room between the starter and firewall, and to clear the clutch linkage I was forced to either bend up a bundle of snakes, or just tee the front exhaust into the rear head pipe. Which is what happened. I don't like the way mine is set up, but it works. Yours looks like it will really make some torque.

Yes, I guess there's more room with an automatic linkage. brian

Looks sweet. No apologies needed there.

...to bolt that baby back up to the Dutra Duals!

The rest of my exhaust system is a homemade hodge podge of bits, but it has good flow, I'll work on that later... I have something in mind...I'll share when I get to it.
