Does anyone know what the valve angle (off vertical) is for the /6? For example, 340 is 18* and SBC is 23*...

He means off the axis of the cylinder. I think I heard it is the same as LA engines (18 deg), but I don't really know. I am interested too!

I measured about 13 +/- a degree or so on the drawing in the Mopar Engines manual.

I measured the angle on a head a while back but ended up not doing whatever it was I wanted the angle for.
The number that sticks in my mind is 11 degrees.

OK, I got curious so went out to the shop where I happen to have a bare head getting ready take to the machine shop.

With an old intake valve and my 'anglelometer' I measured 11.5 degrees.

Good to know, guys. I thought about measuring one on the bench, but y'all beat me to it.

11.5 deg might explain why you can make a good flowing head (relative to the cyl displacement), even with the 30 deg angle between the intake surface and the cyl axis. Need to think further about this...

Cheers,

Lou

The factory blueprints spec the valve guide angle at 12 degrees.
Early SL6 engine development engineering documents say that 14 degrees was also tried & tested but 12 degrees worked "better" for the engine's intended use.

I was hoping you would chime in, Doug - thanks! 12 deg it is...
