It seems the Fel Pro compressed head gasket thickness varies on who you talk to (or read on the internet). Is there number that most slanters tend to use? How about a compressed stock steel head gasket. Inquiring minds would like to know.

Stock shim gasket is around .020- .022

Felpro weighs in from .038 to .043 (if just doing the calc split the difference).

Victor Reinz is similar to Fel-Pro but weighs in on the "heavy side" (but they will take static compression ratios up through 12:1, where as I have had fel-pro fail out on 11:1 SCR engines- but were fine on 10:1 SCR builds)

You will have to do a search if going to the realm of the Aussie Gasket or Copper Gaskets/ O-Rings.

I have measured maybe 10 Felpro gaskets over the years and they were always around 0.032 - 0.034" compressed (actually as installed in the engine - feeler gauges). The other brands are usually more - in the 0.038-0.46" range. The Aussie Permaseal/Endurotec are 0.044"-0.046" compressed.
