Was speaking with Ken from Oregon Cams today. He mentioned a cam he's currently working on for a gentlemen that a more aggressive than the RV10/295. Asked him to email the numbers but was wondering if this gentleman is here on these forums or if there is a post about this? For those who watch these forums more than a newly joined user. Thanks.

Perhaps he's referring to the RV15.

It's probably a shorter path to getting what you want if you declare your desires. It may be that the cam Ken is grinding is something I came up with for another member here, but then again maybe not.

x2 here, if you know what you want or are going to do it's easier for Ken to recommend a bumpstick...

It's tough to say what Ken is working on, they do a fair bit of slant six work from mild to wild... thankfully it's not my cam he's working on, it wouldn't work in your build... without lots of mods.

No it's not the RV15. Asked Ken before about that cam. He has nothing on that cam. I'll just wait till I see the numbers on the cam.

The cam I cam up with for Zach's street performance 225 is this:

OCG #1416 intake lobe and #819 exhaust lobe on 108° lobe centers. This gets you 258/248° advertised duration, 226/219° duration at .050" tappet rise, .459/.437" gross lift. We're targeting a 103° installed centerline.

With an intake closing point in the 48-52° range depending on valve lash, installed centerline, etc the engine will need to be 9.2:1 static compression for an 8:1 dynamic compression ratio.

This build is using a trick 390 CFM Holley (not the list 8007) dual Dutra Duals, a 4-speed, etc, etc.

DtEarth,
I am probably the guy you are looking for. Josh was instrumental with cam grind details for my build.

This is going in a 66 Valiant that, at the moment, is dead stock. I'm going to keep it in sleeper mode, so unless you notice the 4-speed tranny or bigger rear tires, it will look like Gramma's Grocery Getter.

The bottom end is a stock 225 build with few miles, .040 overbore. I'm putting on the mentioned Holley 390, an Offy intake, dual Dutra duals (2-into-1 setup with a Flowmaster muffler), HEI electronic ignition, roller timing chain, and getting the head worked on with a moderate porting job, bigger valves, and milling to raise the compression. Compression is planned as listed, 9.2 static for 8.0 dynamic.

I have no illusions about being the fastest gun in town. However, it should shape up to be a fun driver that may surprise a few people.

As info, I'm also upgrading to front disc KH brakes, all new front and rear suspension, shocks, sway bars, etc. It will be a busy winter in the shop, for sure.

Zach

Also, the OCG #346 (about 8° longer duration) was a consideration, but torque was prioritized and so the Offy intake and a milder cam were chosen.
