Hi guys,

I just got done with the engine teardown..
I put the car away after making it to the 3rd round of the fall mason dixon race.

Turn out i have a spun rod bearing as i suspected.. and also i found out why i was getting water in the oil..
There were 2 cracks in the bottom of #6 cylinder and 1 crack in #5 cylinder..
So i need to get a new block and another molnar rod.

Greg

any ideas on why the bores cracked,,
did you just get 5 and 6 cylinders too thin on the over bore?

Did you fill your block when you did the overbore? If so how deep?

Do you mean with hard blok?
No I did not.. i think i will put more time into this block.. probably a partial hard block fill as well.

I have some research to do.

I am not sure why it cracked... but this block lased quite a while. 5+ years without too many issues until this.

Lots of passes too.

Do you remember what clearances you were running?

Stock.. prolly 0.001-0.0015

Machine shop and I agreed to double that rod clearance to 0.003 on the rod journals.

Mains were fine.

A bit of thrust bearing wear from stalling the conv. so much.. i believe this one does not have the anti balloon plate.

Yep that should be good. Wonder why it spun? :( Which rod was it? Probably one of the center 4 I'd guess.

I'm sure Ruster will debut next year better than ever! :D :D

I thought that Pittsburgh track racers had to sign a form that they were required to oil down a track at least once each year? :P You are way behind, Greg.
