Engine is in, all the braided lines are run, the remote oil filter set up is in.Transmission is in and all the lines, shifter cables...etc are hooked up, drive shaft is in. New header wrap arrived for the Clifford big tube race headers, and they have been painted with a couple coats of VHT silver. Pics to follow! 4 weeks!!!

Redline manifold had some pretty bad core shift up and down. I spent a couple hours straightening things up.Middle cylinders were low and the outside ones were high. It ended up with the ports 1.400" X 1.250" This size is just a little larger than my Clifford I was running.
Here is what I started with!

This little tool is great when porting. You can run it back the port on the intake and tell where you need to work on it. Digital read out and spring loaded arms makes it easy to see and easy to get each port the same. Greta $15 purchase.

yes, I had trouble with the smaller 9/16 head bolts coming loose but since I had the bolt size increased to the 3/4 head I have no issues.

No I got all my fluids today, and I am waiting on a couple fittings for the fuel system. Hope to start it this weekend. I am really running behind. I am usually ready to race by March 1!

Ok, Race car has been fired up. All the oil and water stayed inside and no oil leaks at any of the new hose / fittings that I installed. Had a problem with the new fuel system. Brand new Professional products canister type fuel filter was put into my hard lines at the rear and it leaked like a sieve! Removed the top bolt and looked at everything and after 2 more atempts I gave up. Removed it from the hard lines and took a closer look at where the leak was. It was coming out right at the top bolt that holds it together. They supply a copper washer for under this bolt to make the seal. Only problem is the bolt does not have enough of a flat surface are under it to seal to the canister. Also the spot on the canister where it seal is really rough and has extra thick paint there, some of which chip off and allows and even more uneven place for the washer to seal. All in all very frustrating and I would never buy another one like it. Although I can probably make this one work with some work and a new bolt and washer, I just cut off the hard line and install a inline metal filter for now. Here is a picture.

Please see the transmission section though, because "Houston, we have a problem!"
