I managed to get the car running well enough to drive it down there for the car show. The brakes still need work to take a run, but the new master cylinder arrives today so hopefully it will be ready soon.

The good news, I got a 2nd place for the "Project" category. I didn't expect that but it was nice!

I only saw three slants, one was a cool rear-engine rail, another a 67-69 Valiant, and I think a truck (can't find my notes, dammit).

I had to leave just before the quarterfinals but unless i missed something, all the slants were gone by then.

My car is still broken; was planning to borrow DusterIdiot's Aspen, but the s!@# hit the fan in my car club which meant (and still means) I have a lot of work to do... now that I'm president.

Looking at August, hoping I don't already have that day booked!

We only had 4 cars Dave, Doug, Mike, & myself. Ceej was not feeling good so didn't have the race.
I managed to get taken out in the 3rd round don't know how long the other three lasted maybe
Dave will post that info. This was in the street class of the Mopar race.

Thanks Sarge!

Sorry you didn't have the Slant 6 race, but at least you were able to get together and represent in the Mopar class.

I'll add the attendance points for you all.

How did the RED run? Any records to send to Seymour...? :D

Rob

Since we only had four cars I didn't want to bug the track with the slant six race so we all just raced in the sportsman class. Both Doug and I went out in the first round, think Mike made it one more and Richard had three rounds in.

But it was 96* and the beer was really cold.

Doug and I showed up on Friday for tune and test and we both got a bunch of runs in, so all in all it was a great weekend.

If you really get bored type in #thevan on You Tube. Some how one of my relatives ( Darren ) from Spokane made a deal with the track and a funny car to race. Darren has a 65 Dodge van with a tired slant six and raced a 2000 HP 57 Chev. The 57 runs the 1/4 @ 7.00 and the van at 19.6 At first we were going to bracket race but the funny car driver said if something happened on the top end we would be history. So then he came up with the idea of only a 3 second head start for the van. We were just barley past the 60 mark when he blew past us and when we were at the 330 mark the funny car had already pulled is his shoot!

So "WHY" did a 20 second car race the 7 second car ? All Darren was trying to show that you don't have to have a fast car to have fun...........

Dave

Thanks.......................

Well, now I kind of created a monster with Darren. He wants his Uncle to build him another engine (more power) for next year, at Woodburn's Oldies race in June. So it looks like I'll have to build another engine for him. He didn't have to twist my arm very hard...

One of my friends from Tillamook Oregon brought his slant six powered 70 Plymouth Baracuda to the car show and won first place. Don't think some of the hemi powered cars liked that. Oh well...

Sounds like fun, Dave and Fopar. Love the Slant 6 70 Cuda winning the show. You've seen one Hemicuda, you've seen 'em all. Enjoyed the van/57 video too.

Keep on having fun! Say hey to Doug and all for me...

Lou

Hemi powered cars were probably okay..

It was the hemi powered owners who got their jock straps in a bind...

Awesome stories.
