So you get the new intake and do a bunch of work.. or make good exhaust and do a bunch of work.

Its up to you my man Stan!

That's what happens when you build cool bespoke slant stuff.

Greg

That is what I am running Stan. They do give you a little more room. They are 1.5" longer I think. Mine had to be massage quite a bit. Cross section was quite a bit smaller than the Clifford. Casting was off pretty good as well. Runners were not all level with each other when you laid a straight edge across them. Good news was there was plenty of meat to open them up and straighten them out. .
Thanks Rick.

There are two on ebay and they look very similar, just about $100 different price. Would you know if they are the same intake? When you say massaged quite it bit, I hear you on the port match, but did they fit your headers better? With that extra length I would hope they go between the tubes with less interference.

Stan

Well, I used the Clifford long tube "race" header with the bigger tubes. The front fit without any mods. The 3 rear tubes were all cut off an mandrel bends welded in to get where I needed them. I have pics somewhere in my build.

I had to look that one up!
We don't use words like that down here in Texas!

Here is the link to my header mods. And if you back up a page or two you will see the intake issues.
If you modify any headers just be careful to turn them down enough so the carburetor linkage does not hit them when the linkage pushes down. Robbie built mine without a carb on and the rear tube did not clear the carb linkage by much. Lucked out

Rick, could I ask you to measure the length on the Redline runners? From head to carb, not exact, just ballpark number. My Clifford is 4 1/2 inches. That will help me make a decision. Thanks

Here is a link Stan. Has photos, measurements, Seymours headers...etc

The measurement is 6" on the Redline.

If you have an unported Clifford 3X2 (Anyone) I would like the measurements if I could get them. Thanks

Rick,

4.5 from carb flange to cylinder head. Ports are 1.125 x 1.39, Carb side openings are 1.84 inches.

Started cutting pipe. I thought just one of the last three would need fitting, but it looks like all 3 will have to be changed. I am also going to remove 2 pipes from the head flanges to clear the Clifford intake.

I feel like a 90 year old man today.
Does any one remember the header Ad from years ago?
It was Hooker or Appliance or another one and this poor guy was under the car with pipe knee high.
The caption says, "Mike Failed Today"
That is how I feel today.

This is where I stopped for the day.

Would it be possible to angle mill the intake, where it bolts to the head? It would tilt the intake up and might give more clearance for the inner header tubes.

And likely mess with the Weber carb operation. :D
