Anyone have insight on the need to make this divider out of SS, or will mild steel work ok.

My concern and reason for asking is around the idea that mild steel will rust over time.

Do you see that as a problem, or am I overthinking this?

Modern fuels can be harsh on mild steel, stainless would be a better choice and also, mild steel and even aluminum dividers can bend due to the pulses they experience in a running engine. Make sure you use a thick enough gauge regardless of which material you choose.

I really wouldn't worry about it. Your engine is full of mild steel and iron on the inside and things don't rust...

Ok, I will proceed with the steel divider, as this is going into a cast iron intake, and I am attempting to braze it in... If I am happy with the results I have an single barrel aluminum intake to modify.

I have had "dual plane" divider inside of Clifford intake. It has 318 efi throttle body with DIY adapter. Because the idle was bad with hot cam I tried to split the intake to 123 and 456 and it was a success. It didnt take any high rpm power off because the 1/2 of 318 throttle body was enough. I had fuel injection with that engine.
