Yes but what happened to the AL engine?

of course, it cannot support the Torqstorm.

Notice that the AL engine was metallic turquoise. It's probably an early production '61 Lancer wagon there, with the block manufactured sometime in 1960?

Having the ability to unbolt the upper rad yoke makes engine removal quite a bit easier than on a '62 with the fully spot-welded upper rad yoke.

Fail! That's an aluminum block motor they took out of that '61 Lancer wagon. Not a word about that in the article, even though it would've required special parts (head gasket, rear main seal parts) to build up. Even though it would've been exactly the kind of cool-old-car stuff Hagerty customers (and potential customers) would eat up with a fork and spoon.

My biggest question is exactly what paint they used for the head and tinware on that aluminum engine. It looks like a 10/10 match for the factory '60-'61 engine paint as described here. Who knows, maybe they read that thread and cadged the paint code from page 3 of it. :roll:

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not familiar with the "toads". That doesn't look like the correct radiator, shroud, or fan for that car.

Yes looks like a '72ish a body rad/ matching shroud for an A/c car.

Fan was some sort of custom piece. Looks like plastic.

Prolly before it was parked, it had overheating issues?

Oe rads for that car should be of the curved top variety.
