Notice that the AL engine was metallic turquoise. It's probably an early production '61 Lancer wagon there, with the block manufactured sometime in 1960?

Having the ability to unbolt the upper rad yoke makes engine removal quite a bit easier than on a '62 with the fully spot-welded upper rad yoke.

Fail! That's an aluminum block motor they took out of that '61 Lancer wagon. Not a word about that in the article, even though it would've required special parts (head gasket, rear main seal parts) to build up. Even though it would've been exactly the kind of cool-old-car stuff Hagerty customers (and potential customers) would eat up with a fork and spoon.

My biggest question is exactly what paint they used for the head and tinware on that aluminum engine. It looks like a 10/10 match for the factory '60-'61 engine paint as described here. Who knows, maybe they read that thread and cadged the paint code from page 3 of it.

Poorly written article. Well-made video.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not familiar with the "toads". That doesn't look like the correct radiator, shroud, or fan for that car.

Yes looks like a '72ish a body rad/ matching shroud for an A/c car.

Fan was some sort of custom piece. Looks like plastic.

Prolly before it was parked, it had overheating issues?

Oe rads for that car should be of the curved top variety.

Agree on both counts. Because I'm an old greybeard (and, um, a professional writer and editor), I sent a squawk about it to the nominal editor of Hagerty. Doubt there'll be a response, but we'll see.

Having a little background in Video Production, a considerable about of effort was made to shoot and edit that video. I suspect some AI editing tools were used as well. It would appear the mechanics performing the engine rebuild were also were masters of their craft. Hagerty missed a good opportunity to put together a worthwhile and informative article to accompany the video. The author clearly did not demonstrate basic knowledge of the engine he was writing about.
As a member of Hagerty, their magazine is generally very-well constructed with many high quality articles from talented writers—making the failure here all the more confusing and disappointing.

Probably, given that "AI" (in quotes because no, it freakin' isn't) is infesting everything in this crummy timeline, and the reality of the matter hasn't dawned on most people yet.

Not that "AI" is anywhere near necessary for this kind of thing; this Jam Handy movie, Auto-Lite On Parade, is from no later than the mid-1950s; probably earlier than that. And it wasn't the only one; LS/MFT.

Now I want to see a video about the 61 Chrysler looming in the background at the beginning of that video. I have a major soft spot for the early 60s Chryslers with the diagonal headlights, fins, and awesome instrument pod.

Casually looking for a Clifford hyperpak intake for cheap.

There used to be a fantastic film on Youtube, a long factory movie about the engineering and styling features of the 1960 Plymouth. Had Jack Charipar and other notable Chrysler people in it disucssing various aspects of the car. There was a fair amount of material on the new Slant-6 engine, and heavy concentration on how the tailfins helped with highway stability in crosswinds (LOLROFL, so went the claim). It got disappeared some years ago, because that's how YouTube/Google do. I've checked with my usual go-to people for it, with no luck; OsbornTramain, for example, knew exactly which movie I meant, but he doesn't have it. I should have downloaded it when I could!
