What year is your D150? Does it have a manual or automatic transmission? Is it a 49-state, California, or Canada-spec truck?

I just bought a $85 2bbl off ebay. It looks good, have it mounted but haven't fired up the car yet.

Nope. That one won't come close to working on the OP's truck. It lacks numerous necessary hookups, the linkage configurations are wrong, the air cleaner attachment is wrong, etc. Seller's promotional claims for it being a "universal" item are severely exaggerated.
Those Chinese 2-barrel BBD knockoffs won't work for the OP's 1-barrel application. Whether they'll work passably well in a 2-barrel application is luck of the fates.
No, different mount pattern and hookups, etc.

THIS would be near the top of my list of candidates.

Don't be afraid to disassemble them, soak them overnight in carb cleaner, maybe give them an ultrasonic treatment, and rebuild them. I would rather spend the time carefully rebuilding a true junkyard core, including rebushing the throttle shaft, than roll the dice with a Chinese knockoff or repair warehouse unit.
