I was wondering since all the shock plates for sale, they usually say 8.75" or 9.25", do they fit the 8.25" too?
Are the U bolts for springs(3" by 7" long) and axle housing the same too?
The backing plates for an 8.75" rear, does the SBP and LBP use the same plate? thanks.....Jerry

I'm sorry, but that is not correct. There are no "A" body LBP 8 3/4 rears, they are all small bolt pattern (4 inch), but all other 8 3/4 rears are large (4 1/2) bolt pattern

8 1/4 and 8 3/4 rears both use the same shock plates and U-bolts. they haved the same spring perches and 3" axle tubes. 10" brakes all use the same backing plates and wheel cylinders. IIRC even 7 1/4 10 " brakes use the same backing plates because the later 7 1/4's flair out the end of the tubes.

I could be wrong, but I think the 10 x 1 3/4 brakes use a different backing plate then the 10 1/2 brakes. I have two rears with 10 brakes sitting on the ground. One with 1 3/4 and one with 2 1/2, and the offset from the mounting flange looks different. Don't have time to take the drums off, to measure.

I think you got me there Charlie. I know I put 7 1/4 brakes on an 8 1/4 and they worked great. It would make sense to me that 3/4" wider drums would need a deeper offset to the backing plate
