I'm going to replace the standard hood latch on Aaron's '74 Dart Sport with a cable release hood latch. Where does the cable pass through the firewall? There are no holes or plugs. Got any pics to show me?

Jerry

The inside hood release is very uncommon on an A-body. None of mine have ever had that option.

I'll take a look at my factory service manual later. Sometimes they are good to show things like this, sometimes not.

There should be a dimple a little larger than the cable you'll have to drill a hole through. I put an inside hood release on my 73 Dart Sport when I had it, but don't have any pics. A trip to a junkyard may provide you with an example.

From memory only, I think it passes through the firewall below and to the right of the steering column. Correctly installed, you should have plenty of cable to even make a mistake. The valiant I just parted out had one, and it was an aftermarket item. Guy drilled a hole through the firewall, put one of those "O" ring protectors around the hole or maybe even some plumber's black putty and it looked like a factory job.
