 Post subject: starter problem

i thought my starter would not turn over because my headers are so close the heat was causing it to seize up. today i tried to start it and it turned over 3 times then nothing. any ideas?

The headers may have overheated it and melted the bearings or the windings in the motor. Replace it with one of those new mini-starters from a late model minivan and wrap it in some of that metallic heat barrier stuff.

Almost. A minivan (or other FWD) starter will not fit/work. The mini starter comes from an '89-'03 RWD Dodge pickup (Dakota or full-size), B-van, Durango, M-body passenger car (Diplomat/Gran Fury/NYer Fifth Avenue/Canadian Caravelle) with 3.9 V6, 5.2/318 V8 or 5.9/360 V8. Post-'03 and V10 starters won't work either.
