Hi, I have a 75 Duster, and all the lights behind the speedo are out, Before I go tearing the dash apart, I was hoping someone here, might have some pointers for me. I have looked behind the dash from the floor of the car, and I can see that they twist into the flat circuit board but I can't easily get my hand in there.

The first rule before you poke around under the dash is to disconnect the battery. The amp gauge has power to it all the time and it has exposed terminals on back of the instrument cluster. There might also be a few other live circuits behind there too.

It will be easiest to remove the instrument cluster to change the bulbs. Also those twist-in light sockets like to break the plastic ears off and then they will not stay in. There are a couple different designs, some have good sturdy plastic ears, others just fall off with age.

To remove the instument cluster... Block car wheels so it will not roll, disconnect the battery, lower the steering column (remove bolts from filler panel at floor so it can move around, then remove nuts under column at dash, then let it settle itself down to the seat, may also be useful to put auto trans lever in neutral but block the wheels to car does not roll away), disconnect speedometer cable from back of speedometer (I think there is a plastic tab to squeeze to release it) , remove screws holding instrument cluster to dash, then carefully pull away a little bit, disconnect several plug in wire connectors and last if you still don't' have enough access is to remove the nuts holding wires to the amp gauge, then the cluster will be free to take to the work bench.
