I recently took on the job of totally restoring a 1963 D-100 truck for a friend and am totally confused about getting the motor out. I have swapped many motors before, but I am having problems with this one. Do I have to pull the trans (standard) with the motor or do they come apart? I have removed all bolts and they will not separate and I cannot get them out together. Also, what is the correct color for thew engine? Any ideas will help. Thanks mike

Yes, the engine and trans will separate, though you can also remove them together if you prefer. Could be the clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel surface, if the truck has been sitting a long time.

Slant-6 engine color in a '63 D100 is usually yellow (approximately John Deere yellow), some early-production '63s got red.

Thanks, I did get it out together, there are holes in the crossmember, I just could not find the bolts due to the large amount of grease and dirt from 42 years of use. It took a lot of blood, sweat and bad language to get it out. Thanks again. mike
