Anyone have their speedo rebuilt. The odo on my valiant keeps sticking which causes the speedo to go nuts. I'm tired of taking the cluster out to unstick the thing so I just want to send one off and reinstall a working one. Thanks in advance

other than my speedometer needing to be rebuilt, my panel lights now go on and off so at night sometimes i can and sometimes i can't see my temp, alt or fuel guage.

plus there is a huge rip in my dash.

would it be possible to take a whole dash/panel assembly from another car at a scrap yard and just interchange the whole thing and hope for a good speedometer from them?

can i just interchange guages if one of theirs doesn't work?

can i advance their odometer to match mine?

Let me clarify a little.............

An actual calibration, where they get the odometer and speedometer to agree. (I'm not talking a gear ratio change). It's very common to have different errors between the two systems, and you can with gear ratio changes you can get either the odometer or speedometer to read correctly, but not both at same time............ (i.e. my odometer is within 1%, but at higher speeds my speedometer is 5%+ off.......)

Dash panel lights going on and off intermittantly could be due to a bad headlight switch. I had that problem in a 64 Valiant, and a new headlight switch from NAPA has solved the problem.

hey mixolydian,
I got my headlight switch electrical unit, i was able to find the button that releases the actual switch you pull to turn on the lights, but i can't figure out how to release the old electrical unit and remove it. I have made notes so that i know which color wire goes on which terminal. all i need is to be able to release that old electrical unit. any tips?

and BTW, laying upside down with your head against the brake pedal and your arms paralyzed by the lack of space is not a comfortable position to be in for any period of time. yuck.
