Hi All,

I have been talking to a guy about doing a batch of exhaust manifolds modified for turbo flanges. Here are some examples of what he has done for himself in a duster.

Anybody besides me interested? Here are the details so far:

1. Newer, ribbed exhaust manifold needed as a core.
2. You specify the turbo flange style/size
3. He will coat them with a hi temp titanium outer coating, and ceramic coat the inside ( He isn't sure that he can get the ceramic into all the nooks, but will give it a try.

Whatta ya think? Interested? Next, the manifold/fuel rail post.

Pricing... Well, I don't know just yet an exact price. But, I can give some sort of ball park, I suppose. Mike initially made me an offer for some head porting and prep work, plus a modded exhaust manifold, for around $700. I suspect that the manifold, just for me would be around $200-$400, if I was to separate it out. I suspect if we can get a batch together, it will be on the cheaper end of the spectrum. I haven't heard back from Mike yet on this, and I don't want to put words in his mouth, so I will refrain from speculating any further.

Also, he has the right equipment/supplies for cast iron welding, plus the coating/ceramic materials, etc. I don't get the feeling that this will be a hasty, crummy job. Since he has done it before, he knows what "right" will be with it.

Well...not necessarily. Since he has done it before, he can do it again...the same way. Maybe it's right, and maybe it ain't. All we have to judge by? One story and a handful of tiny pictures. We really need more info on this guy's skills and knowledge before it's clear whether he's a good $$ risk.

From Mike. I will see if I can invite him to our group.

-Turbo exhaust manifold, exhaust ports opened up to gasket size and flowed into the log, adapter plate welded for turbo of choice (I have the TI-TII and TIII/Holset turbos here) at a 3 degree angle for pan rail clearances, ceramic coating on the inside as far as I can reach, hi-temp titanium coating on outside, $200. Less porting, $140. Bare manifold with no coatings, just the adaptor, $100. Prices include the supplied manifold.

I have 2 different ceramic thermal barrier coatings that I use, both water based.

I gave up on owning older Mopars when I could no longer afford/find parts. I'm now a Turbo Dodge man (stuff is just as plentiful and cheap on these as they were on the L-6 Dusters a decade ago).


For the price, the Slanter's can't go wrong. I guarantee my work, if any problems (other than the manifold cracking unless they want to shell out an additional $35 to have it magnafluxed) arise, I'll fix, replace, or refund.

make sure im reading all of this correctly? for $200 he supplies the manifold // ports it // ceramic coats it // and does the flange to mount a turbo??????



well I screwed that up I have to supply the manifold. anyone got one of these newer style ribbed manifolds they want to sell to me? or know where i can get one from?

Theres a guy that lists new repro exhaust manifolds on ebay occasionally for like $150

There are could be better prices out there, but this is cheap, and may work. Hard to say, as it may be crappy chinese stuff.

looks really interesting, although the stock manifolds have been known to crack without a turbo. 200 bucks would be worth a shot, though.
