Car Model:
1. drum seal, federal mogul part. Which side faces backing plate, fuzzy cork or metal rim?

2. Pitman seal, federal mogal part. Which side faces ground, rubber or coil spring side?

James....will start with Q-2

The spring side should almost always face the lubricant side of whatever youre installing it in. That is the case for your pitman seal, too. Robber out, spring in.

Q-1......Without knowing exactly what the seal looks like, I'd say metal out. Seals are designed in such a way that if pressure were to build inside the container, that the pressure would push against the sealing surface so as to place more contact against the shaft that is supposed to be sealed.
