I am researching the 2 barrel adaptor plate on the one barrel intake. Is the opening in the manifold big enough to handle the new two barrel carb or would it be better just to get the two barrel intake? Thanks for your help. David

Arrrrgh. We've hashed over this question many, many times over the past few years.

Short answer: Adaptor plates are dumb and halfâssed. Do it right, use or make a 2bbl intake.

What Dan said. Don't bother trying to stuff two barrels of intake flow through a one barrel opening because you'll just wind up with one barrel's worth of flow.

For a cheap (maybe) alternative to sourcing a two barrel intake, see here:

I didn't do the best job of precision engineering the placement of all the holes and whatnot, but the point is it is doable.

Yes, it is better to have the 2bbl intake. BUT, the 2bbl carb with an adaptor on the 1bbl intake is a step up from the 1bbl carb. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/658846/5

I guess a good 2 bbl on an adapter would be better than a crappy 1bbl,
but the 2bbl intake is the "best" way to go.

But it is just my opinion...

I agree with this. But, a good 1bbl is better than a good 2bbl on an adaptor. Crappy carburetors of any description are...well, they're crappy!

I did get the same performance out of my Carter YF 1bbl as my 5210 2bbl. But, I get better mpg from the 5210 on same intake.
