Yep, been there, done that with early shaft and late converter. That can grind up your input shaft too...

On my end:

I tuned up the new "Slantkota" yesterday and broke down the '85 motor I bought from Larry Chesney. Going to put together a long rod cast cranker later this year.

'64 Dart front suspension is almost back together with new parts after a long wait to get my capautoproducts LCA fixed.

Making progress on baffles in the "Project V" roadrace oilpan - the last big part needed to put the car back together. Need to reassemble front suspension/steering, install front seat, and install new motor/trans. We'll see if I can make Hagerstown!

'68 Dart (living in MN for a while) has new subframe connectors installed and a few floor holes welded up. Uweld.com is doing the work. Turbo exh manifold is nearly complete too and it looks like they'll be building me a custom intercooler too ("cheaply" they say).

More to come...

Lou

The Duals are mounted, and we're in the middle of fabricating pipe to bring the exhaust under the car. Thanks Fopar! :D

We're having fender challenges. We'll see how it all works out. I need to get the fenders and hood in for paint within the next week.
No more Hooptie Scoop!

Lot's of welding left to do on the exhaust!

That looks familure... good job routing the pipe.

That's the trouble with making a front casting into a "one size fits all" unit... it works but it's not the best design for use as a rear manifold.

I'm definately going to have to mock that one up when I go dual duals...
I wonder, due to the 'arc' of the rear pipe if it owuld be easier just to continue the curve and go under the oil pan to make the passenger side runner, then put the front/driver's side pipe through the 'pocket' created by that pipe....

Good Luck guys,

-D.idiot

Slick looking pipe Ceej. :D :D :D

I got a look at the Daytona yesterday and saw the front frame extension Patrick welded in. Looked good. Also heard back from the guy who is going to make the sleeves for the ball joints. When I get those back we can start on the tubular A-arms.

I am going down next Saturday to do some more cutting and cleanup on the car. More pics to follow.

And we even had a visit from a beer truck! :D

MiDi stopped by to drop off the tranny for Linda's car last night. He gave me three tasty beers to tide me over till his next visit before he jetted back to Portland in Stomper.
Caldera Pale Ale, mmm,-mmm! Thanks Neil! :D

The next part of the project is the pipe from the head pipe to the muffler. It's not quite straight. I need to introduce a jog in the system.
My paint guy didn't make it over yesterday. We'll see if he makes it this evening. Gotta get stuff done!

At present am having problems trying to get the air cleaner part figured out. Maybe something off a Freight liner or Mack truck.

One barrel??? I'm curious

Also, good to see Ceej, I'm going to be doing something like that over spring break, but will make the dutra duals out of tube. The plan is that the 3 - 2 will bolt onto the 170 when I put it in and the 2-1 will be something I will have to change. I keep fighting with the DARN exahust manifold trying to seal. I've tried everything.... going back to copper gasket and double nuts.

It's part of my Winter project  How big a 1 barrel carb can you fit on a slant :?:
Only time will tell if it will work

Have you tried using 2 stock gaskets? Thats what I use on my headers and they don't leak.

Cox bros. has a really thick exhaust manifold gasket that really works. Mike Jeffrey usually has a couple extras if you can't get hold of CB. Wayne from rainy CHico
