so im switching steering collumns from my dart to my valiant. is all black and nice looking if ya need to know.

got them both pulled, i unbolted column and took off shifter and they both came right out(leaving the slide in car) and i was going for the installation on the valiant! it wouldnt go in all the way, and i went to pull it back out and the slide came apart... yay, i can deal wit that. but the rest of the shaft is still in the column and wont come out.
will i be able to just hammer it in all the way? or do i need to rip it out somehow and re-insert to keep it from binding?
