 Post subject: Oil Press Drop
PostPosted: Sun Dec 09, 2001 5:41 pm
I've noticed that on hard stops my oil pressure drops to 0 psi then returns to 40-50 lbs. I assume this is caused by oil puhing up in the pan and returning....Is this normal on a 65 - 225 ?
I figured when I overhaul my Engine soon..I would build some baffles along with a windage screen. Any other Ideas?

I would weld a couple of baffels into the pan and be sure the oil pick-up tube is correct for that year oil pan and positioned close to the pan's floor.

Tip: When doing pan baffels and windage trays, always check all clearances, including the dip stick's clearance.

I'll guess that last bit's a wee reference to my recent snafu... very polite.

As they say...been there, done that,...
and it sounds like I am not the only one to put a nice oil pan / windage set-up onto an engine, just to find-out that the dip stick no longer has a place to get through to the sump. :-(
