The car has a 3 speed on the column and I was wondering if anyone knew what tranny I have?

Is it a manual column shift with a clutch? If so, the trans is most likely a A-903 or a A-745, non-syncrow 1st 3-speed.

If it is a column shift automatic, 99% of the time, it will be a A-904

Its a column shifted Manual Transmission(With a clutch). How can I tell the difference between an A-903 and an A-745?

The 903 has a flat cover on the top, the 745 has a small upward "bump" in the front of the cover.
To be honest, both these gearboxes are weak and have a non-syncronized first gear. Combine that with the "long and sloppy" column shifter and these can be a "chore" to drive.
A great improvement would be to swap to an 833 4-speed or retrofit a newer 5-speed into the vehicle.

I originally bought a swap meet shifter to convert my 903 to the floor.

There is NO mounting points on that tranny to do that!!

If I can ever get back to work the 833OD hanging in there will be nice to drive.
