The fuel capacity in my duster is what, like 20 gal. or so? It had probably 2 gal left in the tank, and I went to the gas station and at about 9 galons or so the pump stopped. I clicked it a couple of times, gas then spewed out of the filler neck. I have never had this before, and I know for sure it wasn't full. What could cause this sorta thing?

Fuel tank capacities should be:
1967-1970..... 18 gal
1971...............17 gal
1972 up...........16 gal

Don't know about the quick fill up, unless you were mistaken about the remaining amount of fuel in the tank.

my 78 Fury did that when I 1st got it. Wound up being a clogged tank vent. Could NEVER get it full at first. and it always acted like it ran outta gas til I fixed the venting problem. Popped the plastic vent out of the tank (on mine its line went to the charcoal canister up front IIRC) and replaced it with a vent assy from one of my spare Volare tanks. Problem solved. Also blew the rubber hose connecting to the vent with my air comp while the tank was out and at the rad shop (had it boiled and coated)
