 Post subject: stuck brake drum

i could use some help. i have a 67 dodge A100 van. i am trying to remove the drivers side frt brake drum. There are no pushers holes on the drum it self. i have loosened the pads up as much as possible and cant find the lever to release it from the inside. whats the trick? thanks for any help i can get.

i know this is going to sound stupid, please dont laugh to hard. it sounds like i need to remove the cotter pin, large nut, and bearing. if that is the case, somebody needs to rewrite the 40 year old manuel ive got.

Yeah, the dust cap, cotter pin, nut, washer and outer bearing all have to come out. The original drums are swedged to the hub and don't slip off the hub.

No laughing, just personally I never liked that chrysler's front drums were secured to the hubs ( I generally don't like front drums period).

Just so you don’t feel left out, the early Chrysler KH disk brakes are also firmly attached to hubs as well… Like wise for KH used on early Mustangs.

With the KH discs there was no swedging. The studs press fit into the hub - the back shoulder holds the rotor in.
