G'day guys,

just thought I'd share a picture of what happened to me today.

I was taking a transmission line off my old 1962 Valiants, unscrewing the pipe fitting from the box. It was pretty tight, and was very hard to move. After a while I figured out why I wasn't getting far, and why it was hard......(see picture).

In the end, I had to use the Dremel to get it off.....all fixed now.

Steps to taking off line successfully:

- Spray with PB Blaster
- Do other projects for a couple of days.
- Remove line.

The pipe to flare adapter fitting is supposed to stay in the transmission case when the cooler line is removed. Use a backup wrench to make sure the adapter fitting stays in the case while the steel tube nut is loosened.

G'day guys,

you should have seen how i got the rear one out - straight into it with the Dremel. Then made up new lines and cleaned up all the fittings.

Job Done.

Thanks heaps, Peter. Now I want a cinnamon bun, but I haven't any and it's 4-something in the morning so I can't go out and get any, and even if I could I'm sick with the flu, and even if I weren't they're not very beard-compatible.

Casually looking for a Clifford hyperpak intake for cheap.

Being from the rust belt, I usually found that the flare nut stuck to the tube despite trying various penetrant oils. I now prevent that by putting just a little anti-seize grease on the back side of the flare and on the threads - since I've done that, I've never had the problem.

I also tried the trick of using a flaring tool to hold the tube while turning the nut, it sometimes worked.

Blue tipped smoke wrench and PB Blaster.
