Trying to finish my driveline off. Engine is a 225, professionally ported/polished head with enginebuilder valves, clifford intake manifold, holley 650dp blowthrough. Haven't decided on the turbo setup yet. Transmission is a 904 with manual valvebody, race bands/seals/clutches.
Rear end is a 8 3/4 with a spool and 2.76 gear. What should I use for a torque converter? Would the stock one be good?

The stock torque converter is not a heavy duty piece and should be upgraded. When I was talking to a converter builder about forced induction we agreed that a tight 10" converter would be best as too much slippage at the moderate engine speeds of a 225 will cost in terms of ET and MPH. You are going to have a tough time with 2.76 gears if you're still planning on drifting. Only light, fast, turbo A bodies have been able to make good use of 2.76 gears at the track. Drifting happens at lower speeds and you need to gear appropriately. 4.10 is probably not too much.

Cam . compression, converter and gears......

It all needs to be a compatible combination.

Josh is right....heavy car .....low speeds....big verter and low gears.

With a 750 DP it will fall flat on its face if you cant get the revs up.

Id be at 3500 stall and 4.56 gears with 26" tires.

This is for a drag car. Car is looking to weigh in around 2750 when done. Stock cam, 8.4:1 comp ratio, 2.76 gears, 26 inch tall tire. Head is ported/polished with enginebuilder valves. Other than that it's stock.

You're not going to be able to go fast enough to take advantage of 2.76 gears. Then again with a stock cam and bottom end it might not spin fast enough to take advantage of numerically higher gears. Time for cut-and-try! :D

Yep. And it still needs a better converter and cam to go fast. You lived this so you can let him know what he needs to make the plan work.
