So with a street / strip 904 trans , supercharged 63 wagon engine is older large dia crank .
Lock up or non lock up ?
What year trans should I look for ?
And with 27" rear tires and 3.64 or 3.70 gears what would you recomend for torque converter size ?

Earlier SL6 cranks have the smaller converter pilot hole... not the "large diameter" so you need to confirm what crank pilot size you have. ( a 63 would have come from the factory with the small pilot)

In general, a non lock-up is better for a performance set-up.

Common Mopar rear end gear ratios are:
2.93 / 2.94
3.21 / 3.23
3.55
3.73
3.91
4.10

If the transmission has a 1 to 1 final drive then a 3.23 or a 2.94 are good choices.

Good info...
It is nice that you have the later "large pilot" crank, that opens-up more options for transmissions & converters.

I am going to look at a /6 904 transmition he thinks is a 1967 with no converter all other shields are there and it's a great core if it's the large pilot non lock up..

This is my understanding to ID a 904 trans that's sitting on the garage floor no vehicle to help. ID just a craigslist / swap meet sale one stranger to another ...

Input shaft spline count

18 splines it's for the early small crank pilot hole ?

27 splines non lock up large newer pilot hole

26 splines lock up 1978 and end of shaft has a tip that's smooth no splines

Is there any other ways to id that I can do on the spot thanks
