As I am finally getting around to replacing my rusty gas tank with a new tank, I noticed that there was rust on my filler nozzle. Most of the rust appears to be on the gas tank side of the nozzle.

To avoid contaminating my new tank, I want to clean the rust off of the end of my nozzle and seal it from rusting again. I was planning to use phosphoric acid or a product like Evapo-Rust to remove the rust. I'm not sure what would be the best way of sealing it. I see from earlier posts that Por-15 and Eastwood have suitable products but I also found on other sites that there were problems with long-term adhesion of those products. It might be that the surfaces weren't properly prepared though.

Has anyone cleaned and sealed their filler nozzles? Any advice for how best to proceed?
