I have a 8-3/4 rear that I want to install in my 66 dart. The length from backing plate to backing plate is the same. But the perches that are welded to the housing are several inches off. Which blowes away my original theory of it coming from an A-body car.
Now my question-Can I take the housing to a welding shop and have them cut the perches off, and then reweld them back on. Actually I will weld them on, I just want make sure I should reuse them?? Probably a stupid question, but hey, whatta ya want??

did you get your 8 3/4 mounted in the Dart? One thing you really want to be sure of when removing, moving, and re-welding the perches, is that you make d...mn sure you get the angle of the dangle correct, otherwise you will have a vabration and not know where to look. If off just a couple of degrees in angle, it could mean vibration. Unpleasant for sure.
