Went to look at the tranny. Neither of my DS yokes fit the splines, it had a 10 spline input shaft and a date code stamped on it: 5/21/86.

It had NP stamped all over it as well. I am curious as to what it came out of and how much trouble would it be to put into an A body. Any ideas?

edit:

The bearing retainer was 5.125" and I beleive this to be the 833 from a chevy truck/van. Will it bolt to a slant 6 bellhousing directly?

thanks,

sb

Were the input and output shafts all that GM changed?

Wow, that thing is short! How long is it from the bellhousing face to the end of the tailshaft? I would imagine you could use this behind a slant with a chevy clutch disc, custom pilot bushing, longer driveshaft and custom speedometer cable.

That is one measurement I wish I had taken. From researching, it apparently is the same mounting to the BH as the Dodge trucks of the era. The guy who owns it said it was in a 64 impala when he bought it. I wonder if this swap would be worth the effort?

I would look for a real Chrysler application A833OD. It will likely cost less to install and will certainly require less time to install and make work.
