You could also get an aluminum 3rd member too, that should save a pretty good amount of weight.

Yes that is correct.. For Now I need to spend the big Money Getting the Weight off the front end of the car.


Wilwoods will be on my doorstep this evening and I am attempting to move the engine back 1 foot.

After those upgrades and Aluminum Tranny drums, rollerizing the 904, Gun drilled and super light Axles,lighter front and rear wheels, then I will worry about getting the 11#'s out of the rear chunk.

When those housings came out around 2001 they were about $600 bucks.
I had one with 3.91's in the GTXR. Like a dummy I let them go with the sale of the car. Now the bare housing is double the price. They used all the 742 parts. :oops:

Well I got one run so far and they had rain overnight and we got a late start and ran only 1/8 mile.

Posted best 1/8 & 60 foot times to date...

60' is a1.58 and 1/8th is a 7.63.

Next run track says we will do 1/4 mile.
The ptc converter with the lightweight steering wheel and 750 Carter are working well together

Next time ? Should be getting pretty cold there,,I don't think it will 60' that good with snow tires on. :lol: Glad to see all is jellin together.

Well Apparently The calculators are wrong when your car has to sit in windy fall weather for 3 hours between rounds.


Unfortunately I did not Break the 11.99 Barrier.. The first run felt pretty solid.. But it was 1/8th Mile only - No Tire Spin. I wish I was allowed to hot Lap a few times but that was not the case. The gear oil just gets tool thick and slows the car down when it is cold.

The second and third runs were 1/4 Mile runs - The Third run the Car spun Like crazy and god a bit wigitty downtrack :shock: I have never had that Happen to me..

The secord run was the Best of the three Netting a 12.14 @ 107.65 with a 1.59 60' Time.

Yes The times are all 1/10 of a second faster than before, but I just did not get into that 11 second zone :-(

Ruster is down for the winter Now and I will be doing some installs and Hacking as time allows. Who Knows, maybe an aluminum roof is in the future??

Lookin Good Greg! I appreciate you saving that 11.99 run for the Spring Mason Dixon race! :lol:

The video through the fence on run 1 is cool. It gives a perspective you rarely see. It shows just how fast a launch is in a low 12 second car. It looks & sounds like the car likes the new convertor. Keep up the good work!! Thanks for sharing.

Hello folks, the winter thrash is beginning.
One of Edd's motor plates has been ordered and has arrived... the plan is to move the motor/trans reward by 12" and also shorten the driveshaft by the same amount. I am not quite sure if I will be able to accomplish the motor setback during the winter but I will sure try.

I also have secured a wildwood dynalite front disc brake setup and will begin the install tomorrow.

All of the chrome moly rollbar is in and I will begin that install over the winter as well.

as the roll bar is installed I will be attempting to remove an equal amount of weight off the front of the car. I will be posting updates and pics soon.

I have officially began the winter thrash on ruster.


I started with Removing the Big Bolt Pattern Mopar Rotors and Factory Calipers / Caliper Ways. I also Cut off some of the mounting ears on the calipers as I do not intend to go back to the heavy cast Iron stuff in this application.

Each factory Style Mopar Disc Brake setup weighed in at a hefty 38# Each
Each set Wilwood componets that would replace the Cast Iron Mopar stuff weighed in at 15# each.

-so that means after completing the Wilwood Install on both the L and R side of the car I will have shaved a total of 46# off the front and some of that is rotating mass too!

If you remember from Page 47 of this post, at last check Ruster was at 2187.7# - 46# =
2141.7# Nice! - Getting closer to the 2100# mark!
